Sorocaba (IPA: ), amtlich portugiesisch Município de Sorocaba, ist eine Großstadt im Südosten des brasilianischen Bundesstaates São Paulo. Sie hatte zum 1. Juli 2021 geschätzt 695.328 Einwohnercite-ref-ibge-soro-1-2[1] und ist ein wichtiges Industriezentrum des Landes. Sie ist Zentrum der Metropolregion Sorocaba.

Sorocaba ist 87 km von der Hauptstadt São Paulo entfernt.

Geschichte

Die Stadt wurde 1654 von einer Gruppe von Bandeirantes aus São Paulo gegründet.
